New Safety App for Your Phone

Growing up my mom always had advice for me.  She would worry about me after I moved out of the house and loved to give me tips on being safe. 

• Always be aware of your surroundings when walking to you car
• Have your keys out and ready 
• Lock the door as soon as you get in
• Check the back seat to make sure no one is back there

To this day I am reminded every time I have to walk to my car at night alone.  Being aware of Human Trafficking I am even more aware of the need for safety when I am out alone.  Well, now there is a very cool app available for your phone.  It's called bsafe and is a mobile safety alarm.  It literally turns your phone into a safety device.   

Once you download the app it allows you to choose people from your contact list as guardians.  It's up to you how many to choose, but the more you select the safer you are.  Your guardians are the ones who will be notified in case of emergency.   You can even set 911 up as a guardian.

One of the great features of this app is the SOS alarm.  Let's say I'm at the mall at night and am ready to walk to my car.  I open the app and set it to the red alert button.  If I am approached all I have to do is hit that red button.  An alarm will sound and anyone who is set up as my guardian will get a text and the main guardian will receive a call.  With the upgraded version they will also get your gps location and the phone will video record what is happening. 

Another great feature is the Fake Call.  Sometimes an incoming phone call is all it takes to deter a would be predator.  You can even type in the name of the person you want to fake call you and select how long of a delay before your phone rings.  So if I am walking alone at night I can cue up my fake call and have my phone ring on my way to the car and pretend I'm talking to that person.  "Hi, Mom.  I'm just leaving the mall.  There is a tall man in a yellow shirt following me."

There are a number of other features available with this app.  The basic version is free and the upgraded version is $19.99 for 1 year.  One year of protection and peace of mind.  If we could have every young girl or women get this app for their phone just imagine how much safer they would be.  An extra measure of safety against the fastest growing criminal industry in the world.
